In the previous blog I explained how you can use Rancid to create back-ups of your network devices. Now I will explain how you can create a website where you can view the configurations and compare them with previous versions.
One of the most forgotten backups is that of the network devices, while it can save you a lot of time (thus money) when things get broken. Luckily there is a tool, called Rancid.
As I mentioned earlier on Twitter, I use Unison to synchronize my computers. This works great and I truly think Unison is a great tool, but when it comes to synchronize a Windows machine, it is a (little) pain to set it up correctly.
Although I like Windows (I think Windows 7 works pretty well), I find myself most of the time working on one of my Linux machines. When I wanted to make a blogpost I had to use the Wordpress buildin editor, which works, but is very basic compared to Windows Live Writer.
Introduction With VMWare 4.x comes a great feature to allow VM’s to talk directly to the hardware. Especially at home usage, this is a great feature. For example, I am running a virtual Mediaportal TV-Server with a DVB-T and two DVB-S adapters, more on this in a later blog post.
It is been a few days since I graduated, I just had to wait on the grades. I only knew that it was enough. Yesterday the grades came in and they where quite good, at least I’m proud of it.
For my thesis I did a little research on Network Access Control and the possibilities. This research was focused on the environment of the company I work for, this means I included both Cisco and HP switches in my research.
As some of you might know, I’m busy setting up a test environment for Port Based Network Access Control. With Cisco switches this is plain simple, cause when 802.1x fails you can switch to MAB.
Today I stumbled upon a small problem with our RSA Authentication Manager environment. Accidently there where added two identity sources, to the same LDAP (AD) server. When I tried to delete one of these identity sources, I got an error that it was still linked or that it still has connected users or groups to it.
At school we got 2 XNA lessons, just to fill up our last weeks, since I hope to graduate this year. 2 lessons isn’t much, especially when you realize that that’s about 3 hours total.
